Eric & Meleri’s flower-strewn wedding day was set at the gorgeous Lairmont Manor; the perfect venue for this beautifully simple, vintage event. With the sun high in the sky we first headed to downtown Fairhaven to goof around with the wedding party before the intimate ceremony; I loved that Meleri had not yet seen her wedding band, a surprise from Eric.
Speaking of rings, this ceremony definitely wins the prize for executing the best ring gag we’ve seen yet! No one was in on it except the best man and his wife: when the officiate asked for the rings, his wife stepped out of the crowd and appeared to toss him the box with the rings in it… but instead “missed” and chucked it straight into the fountain behind him. The look of practiced horror on her face was perfect! I had no idea it was planned, and ran over to fish it out. The officiate did me one better – she promptly took off her shoes and jumped into the fountain, oblivious to the cries of, “Wait… it’s a joke… it’s a JOKE!!” When she emerged, dripping feet and all, she grinned wryly at the giggling groomsmen and announced, “Oh my goodness… I hate you all!”
But, in the end, the real rings were proffered and the ceremony was a success. As was the rest of the party! Delicious food, fabulous music and sparklers to play with; all in all, an amazing wedding day.
These are great images. A great photo-journal capture of their day! Love that Kevin even got a picture of you and the officiant retrieving the ring from the fountain!
What a thrill to be part of this fabulous fun couple’s wedding. The two families becoming one big crazy happy family was truly a rich and organic delightful experience. The Bride and Groom bring so much love and openness and presence to their marriage and I wish them all the best a life of love can offer them!
