There are some people that you just “click” with, and for us, Matt & Katie are two of those people. Hanging out with them for their engagement session and wedding day was just like hanging out with friends, and by the time we left I was sad to go! Aside from that, this burlap-and-lace wedding was simply amazing in every handmade detail – I could hardly believe how many gorgeous pieces that Katie had come up with! She MADE her flowers out of lace, fabric and heirloom brooches – took my breath away. At the reception, each table was marked with a place in the world that the couple had traveled to and their story there, accompanied by engraved wine glasses and a specialized bottle of wine. The dessert table was amazing, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was full of a special kind of love.
Speaking of love, Matt & Katie’s story is pretty adorable. Matt grew up coming to his family’s cabin on Orcas Island, and he decided that because it was so special to him, he wouldn’t bring a girl here until he knew she was “the one.” When Katie was invited along for her first family trip to the cabin, she didn’t know the significance of that invitation; but on this day so many years later, they appropriately chose Orcas to vow their lives & hearts to each other forever. (Yes, I totally cried at this ceremony!)
Matt & Katie, we love you guys! Congratulations and many blessings in the years to come!
Karlyn and Kevin – you guys simply amaze me. Thanks for capturing all the details and moments of our day… especially some I never got to see!!! For example, I LOVED seeing the photo of my Dad and Matt before the ceremony and of my grandparents dancing – – let’s be honest, I love them all.
I feel like I got to relive the day all over again just by looking at your photographs…and that means more than anything.
From the bottom of our hearts, thanks y’all.
Wiping tears from my eyes as I scroll through these incredible photos and remember how much love and happiness filled this wedding weekend! These photos perfectly capture each precious moment and the absolute breath-taking beauty of Orcas Island. Thank you for letting us be part of your special day. This wedding was one of the most beautiful I have ever been witness to! Love.
