Popcorn, shaved ice, ring toss, giant balloons… oh yeah, sounds like a wedding to me. 😉 Larry & Kelley’s EPIC vintage carnival-themed backyard wedding turned out amazingly on Saturday. Between the giant strongman-and-miniature-lady face cutout that Larry painted himself, the intricately folded paper flowers, handmade pendants, plethora of carnival games and delicious picnic-style Filipino food (oh, and like a million other handmade details), this party was a HUGE success. Even more impressive, nearly every single thing at this wedding was handmade by either Larry, Kelley or a friend or family member. Like, everything minus the tents. Seriously.
When Kelley contacted me a year and a half ago and told me about her ideas for this wedding, I was blown away. Their engagement session was all kinds of vintage awesomeness in itself – but then I had to wait for a year until the big event! So mean. 😉 It was worth the wait. We were doubly honored to be asked to photograph this wedding because Kelley is a wedding photographer as well, alongside her sister Kim with Kim Nelson Photography. They’re such a fun, funky & talented team, we were extremely flattered to be the photographers that they trusted to cover this amazing day.
Alright, enough talk – check out the magic of the Great Carnival!
Alright. I had a lot of “favorites” today, but this just might top the list. Kelley had been hiding a surprise from her mom for weeks – she’d tattooed her shoulder with her mom’s face. The reveal happened as her mom was helping her put her dress on that morning. She didn’t notice it at first, but when she did – oh man, everyone lost it. 😀
This was a first for us – Larry & Kelley put their rings on at the same time, one-handed! That’s talent. 😉
Most beautiful girl. Kelley’s sister Kim and her husband just adopted this doll from the Congo- she’s deaf, so the family has been learning their signs together. “I love you!”
Bride & groom’s first dance was a surprise – to them. 🙂
Rainbow chip cake!! …HUGE SLICES of rainbow chip cake…. LOL I’m pretty sure everyone had a sugar hangover the next day.
Kelley’s pup Pixel was everywhere enjoying the celebration, too!
These are the lovely ladies of Kim Nelson Photography. 😀 I LOVE them!!
Great job capturing a funtastic day 🙂
